Ministry Purpose
Victory Stephen Ministry (VSM) is one of Victory’s caring ministries. We are a ministry focused on caring for people through people with an approach centered on Christ. We provide quality care through faithful listening, and purposeful prayer; while comfortably walking alongside those who need support, love, and care as they maneuver through their difficult seasons as the Holy Spirit would lead us.
Description
VSM is a caring ministry focused on the confidentiality of those who receive care from our trained and certified Stephen Caregivers. Caregivers receive 50 hours of training that focuses on various topics such as grief, validation of emotions, the art of listening, and boundary setting to ensure caregivers are adequately equipped to serve in excellence in their one-on-one caregiving relationship with their care receiver. Although VSM Caregivers are not counselors, we pride ourselves on the level of care and resources we provide. Our own individual walk in Stephen Ministry is a constant reminder that although we are purposed as Caregivers, God is the ultimate Cure giver. It’s through our partnership with Him that we are confident that those who seek to serve or receive care with VSM are appropriately equipped to succeed in the walk of their season.
Stephen Ministry Volunteer Requirments
Are you faith-filled, committed, patient, and compassionate? Do you work well with people? Do you have a good listening ear and sincerely care about people? Do you feel called to love on people or do your own experiences draw you to want to contribute to something more? Stephen’s just might be the place for you to serve.
But first, some requirements must be met:
- Sit with God a little and allow Him to say "Yes" to your decision.
- Complete Partnership Class.
If it's still in your spirit to serve here, after the above, then you will be ready to:
- Complete a VSM Application
- Complete a pre-interview (before the training class).
- Registration for our 50-hour VSM training class.
- Monday 6:30pm - 8:30pm
- Don’t let the 50 hours intimidate you; the classes offer a lot of resources and go quickly!
- Post-training interview
- Start serving!
